Greeting the Day: Sun Salutations & Centering A series of poses done in succession to warm up the body in preparation for the day. (All levels) Instructor: Kerri Severson Stover 2 Hour Hike Explore the trails of Custer State Park winding through a mixed pine and hardwood forest and along rocky hillsides. (Moderate) Yoga Basics A coherent and thoughtful class covering yoga’s fundamentals: foundational breathing techniques, basic essential poses, and quieting of the mind. Safe experience for all participants. (No experience necessary) Instructor: Kerri Severson Stover Need Grounding? Herbs and essential oils have been used for centuries to enhance our mental and emotional bodies. In this class we will play with different essential oils and herbal combinations that can be used to quiet our mind for meditation and prayer, or help enhance our focus during a yoga session. We will learn about the different properties of the plants and find the ones that work the best for you. Shakti Yoga “Shakti” means energy or power, and can be described as the ultimate creative power within the universe. It can also be translated as divine or sacred feminine power. During this class we will tap into this divine, creative energy within each of us through music, breath, movement and awareness, with a goal of the realization of this power liberates us from individual limitation and takes us to a higher level of awareness and experience. (Intermediate) Hula n' Hoop Hula n' Hoop is a cardio class that incorporates basic hula moves, tahitian steps, and a hula hoop. A workout that is unlike any other. A great class for anyone who wants to learn how to handle a hoop. Hoops will be provided. Instructor: Teresa Rathbun Practice Yoga in the Kitchen Moving towards a plant-based diet has numerous health benefits, such as lowering your risk for cancer and heart disease, and improving the overall well-being of the digestive system. Most of us grew up on a “meat and potatoes” diet, and need help creating meals that don't include meat as the main ingredient. During this cooking class, we will discuss alternate sources of protein and understand how much protein we need for optimal health. We will also prepare and sample several vegetarian recipes with the goal of creating a new mind set about “what's for dinner”. Limit: 12 students Nature Circuit Let's play in the woods! This fun and challenging circuit will remind you of being a kid again. Get a full body workout while hiking a beautiful trail. We will run sprints, do lunges, skip, hike, laugh. This is the kind of workout that you forget your working out. Come jump, run and play in the woods. Bellylicious Bellylicious is a belly dance inspired cardio class that teaches many of the traditional movements of belly dance to create slower, graceful, and beautiful movements. Sensual and smooth lines highlight the beauty of feminine dance. A great class for any level of dancer, intermediate in terms of intensity. 2 Hour Bike Ride Pedal from Blue Bell Lodge on a scenic single-track loop of Centennial trail. Premier black hills mountain biking where one can enjoy the diverse wildlife of Custer State Park. Expert rider John Knight will lead the ride giving tips on mountain biking, to help enhance your riding skills. Must bring own bike. Supportive Yoga Through the use of props and one another, we will assist and support one another to find deeper levels of our yoga practice, trusting our kinesthetic memory to recreate a similar experience in our own practice. This process allows us to experience an integrity in the postures that is difficult to achieve alone, as well as to explore our relationship with giving and receiving support. Touch for Health This practical tool in natural health care, helps to bring the body into balance by restoring natural energy through a combination of the age-old science of acupuncture and modern principles of physiology. Class will demonstrate this technique and then teach you a few methods! It is a great tool for you to use to understand your own body and health better, as well as a great technique to help family and friends. Dance Fever Make fitness fun. This class will be an absolute blast from the past. Dance Fever fuses crazy rhythms with great music. Each move is broken down so you will catch on quickly. Try it! You'll like it! (All levels) Lines of Energy Flow Take any yoga practice to a new level of experience, providing deeper benefits by engaging this simple inner tool. Erich Schiffmann (Moving Into Stillness) refined this technique while contemplating B.K.S. Iyengar's ability to teach with such clarity. Engaging the lines of energy flow allows you to have access to your own inner teacher, customized specifically for your unique practice! |
Nature Hike Enjoy the crisp fresh air of the Black Hills with a relaxing hike perfect for exploring and experiencing nature at it's best. (Moderate) The Art of Live Food Preparation Let your creative chef out while we combined tasty, healthy, fun dishes using fruits, nuts, and veggies. We'll show you how easy it is to sprout and dehydrate, make smoothies and elixir, dips and desserts that are fresh and full of energy and life. This class is going to be fun and full of flavor. Limit: 12 students Explore Your Inner Energy Centers This class will discuss the seven chakras and how each chakra effects us physically and emotionally. We will share a practice to free up the flow of energy between the each of the seven chakras. Class will include asana, meditation, and chanting. (Some experience necessary) Banish Back Pain Common complaints from yoga students center around chronic pain of the neck, shoulder blades, upper back, and lower back. This practice of yoga postures with careful alignment will help balance and strengthen the muscles that support the spine as well as create traction to lengthen the spine. (No experience necessary) Pairing Wine with Food A nice assortment of a red, white, and bubbly wine for you to swirl, sip, and savor. Suggestions for making simple choices about the sort of food to pair with the wine will be offered along with food samples and recipes. Limit: 12 students Cook: Lezlie Haggerty, Instructor: Kathy Smith Intro to Pilates Innovative system of mind-body exercise that strengthens the core, pelvic and shoulder girdle while offering an all around stretch. Performed on a mat, it incorporates deep concentration, relaxation, and no impact to the joints. (No experience necessary) Centering Practice A practice that alternates long holds of strong postures with counter poses, and quiet seated postures. This unique blend of asana and meditation will leave you feeling centered, balanced, and inspired. (Some experience necessary) Breath and Movement A concentrated challenging practice of movement, breath, agility, balance, strength, inversons, and joy. Allow yourself to let go of the "goal" or "end result" and honor the process of learning and growing. (Intermediate/Level 2) Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Arising out of the Kripalu Institute over 20 years ago, Phoenix Rising is a therapeutic approach with a body-mind focus, allowing a deeper connection to our emotions through the yoga postures, inviting us to embrace a profound presence of unconditional loving kindness. Language is used to cue the postures to allow students to find their own formation of each pose through their individual experience. Trail Run Strenuous run in the French Creek Natural Area with spectacular terrain meant to challenge the outdoor enthusiast. Gentle and Patient Experience the benefits of holding seated poses a little longer with patience, giving more time to surrender deeply into each and every posture. Breath deeply, embrace the challenge both physically and mentally. (Gentle/Level 1) Core Strength A carefully designed class specifically sequenced to challenge your center, strengthen and tone the abdominal wall, and find a deep inner strength that supports everything we do. (Level 1/Intermediate) Restorative, Pranayama, & Meditation Everything that happens in your mind is reflected in your body. Slow down and find the gap between the past and the future: discover enjoying being in the moment. Class offers supported postures to heal the body, breath awareness to deepen relaxation, and a quiet guided meditation. Bring bolster, blanket, block if you have them. (All levels) Instructors: Doc and Donna Savage Foot Reflexology Open pathways, restore the body’s equilibrium, and counteract the effects of stress by using gentle pressure on the reflex points of the foot.
